First up was the British Grand Prix. A decent race, plenty of excitement, and finally won by Australia's Mark Webber.
Next person to be enjoying the day was Edoardo Molinari who played his best golf ever to win the Scottish Open at Loch Lomond and pocket a cool half million pounds in prize money.
Mrs. Molinari had a good day too as her other son, Francesco, finished in fourth place picking up about 120 thousand pounds.
In the evening was of course the soccer World Cup Final in South Africa. A torrid affair consisting of the team from The Netherlands trying to intimidate the team from Spain by employing dirty fouls and karate kicks. Eventually the winners were Spain who scored the only goal of the match deep into extra time. Worthy winners.
The most important event of the day however had to be Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Christie celebrating their 40th Wedding Anniversary.
In the balmy Spanish evening, with other diners' eyes glued to the large screen televisions in the restaurant (the soccer event), they enjoyed a beautiful meal. When their waitress discovered the occasion a hastily prepared cake was presented to them, complete with celebration candle.
When will such a day be seen again.
