This was going to be a great month with a planned trip to Granada with our friends Linda and Pete but having hurt my back in December we had to call it off as I could not face the four hour drive and the uncertancies of a strange bed in a hotel.
So we chilled in the sun until I felt fit enough to get out on the bike. We met Linda and Pete in Lo Pagan (they are fit enough to ride there) and we set off along the sea front. We went to Santiago de la Ribera to show them where the ferry port is. They are planning to take their bikes across the Mar Menor and then ride back around the southern edge, quite a journey. Afterwards we rode back to the causeway and rode out to the windmill, foolishly not realizing how strong the wind was. When we turned around it hit us full on and we could hardly ride it was so strong.
The Causeway. The wind can whistle along this 2km stretch making it difficult to ride |
I was spinning away in my lowest gear and Kathie had to get off and push. We won't make that journey again without checking.
Later in the month we had a demonstration of Morris Dancing from the Terri Horvath Morris.

We went to see one of their practice sessions and were invited to become members but we felt that we may give it a go when we are a bit slimmer. We gave them a DVD containing all the photographs and a couple of videos from their demonstration at the U3A and they posted the whole lot on their Facebook Page. I offered to do them a website free of charge but they have not taken me up on that.
They are a friendly bunch and have some great musicians in their band.
